This has been an exciting year for The Brick House!
Back in the spring, we created our first collective action plan with the support of 17 local neighbors, parents, and service providers. This team helped us set goals and plan activities to best support youth and families through 2020.
Over the summer we started a strategic planning process, with support from the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts, Rainmaker Consulting, and many close allies. This group is working hard to plan for a sustainable, supportive, and mission-based future for our agency.
We also increased our grant revenue by over 50%, which means we’re offering more structured arts and recreational programming for youth. Thanks to everyone who has supported the Brick House staff, youth, and families during 2019.
If you’d like to get involved during this exciting time, email us at: volunteer@brickhousecommunity.org
and in the Teen Center…
The after school drop-in program is bustling, with 20+ youth almost every afternoon!
Most participants walk to the Brick House from the bus stop downtown and burst through our doors with a whirlwind of energy. They plop down on our couches to dish about their day, get out some energy on the drum sets or punching bags, shoot some pool with friends, or paint a cool piece of wood they found on the street.
Halfway through the week, we pile into cars and head to a local pottery studio to get our hands dirty. The very next day, youth learn about music recording and production in our on-site music studio.
With support from our partners at the Blue Piano Fund, United Way of Franklin County, Montague CDBG, Mass Cultural Council, and the Department of Public Health, young people in downtown Turners Falls have a safe and fun place to spend time afterschool, making art and changing lives. It’s busy, it’s loud, and it’s full of fun!
