Teen Performing Arts Showcase

at the Shea Theater in Turners Falls

Attention teen performing artists of Franklin County!
We are looking for teen musicians, actors and dancers who would like to perform in the first annual Teen Performing Arts Showcase at the Shea Theater on Friday June 14th. This is an opportunity to perform on stage, in front of an audience, as well as an opportunity to meet like minded teens who are interested in the arts!
Goals of the Showcase
- To create a quality performance that shows off the talented teens of Franklin County!
- To give teens access to a professional stage and large audience, especially for those who have not had this opportunity in the past.
- To bring together and build community between teens who are passionate about making art.
- To create a show that represents the range of schools, towns, arts forms and identities of the teens of Franklin County
Requirements
- Applicant/majority of performers must be teens
- Applicant/majority of performers must live in Franklin County
- Your act should be between 3-6 minutes
- If using instruments, you must provide and be able to set up your own equipment
- All performers must be available to attend a tech rehearsal on (date TBD- but it will be in the afternoon or evening between June 10th – 13th), and must be available from 3:30 – 9:00pm on Friday June 14th.
- Applicants must be Interested in meeting and working with other teen artists.
Selection process
Our selection committee will look first at the following criteria when deciding which applicants to accept:
- Has this applicant had other opportunities to perform this art form on a stage this year?
- Can this applicant demonstrate that they have put in some effort/time towards the art form?
- Has the applicant put thought and time towards the act itself?
- Has the applicant expressed an interest in building community with other teen artists?
Our second criteria for selection will be based on the following:
- Will this act help balance the other acts in the show? (in terms of music, dance and theater)?
- Is this act possible in the space/time we have given its technical needs?
- Will this act contribute to the general diversity of the participants in the show? (geographic, gender, racial, etc.)
