Position Title: Parent and Family Services Coordinator
Reports To: Executive Director
Part Time: 20 hours per week
Salary: $21.5 to $23 per hour
Benefits: Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA); vacation, paid holidays and personal time off
About the Brick House: The mission of the Brick House is to support youth and family well-being by providing a place in Turners Falls for creativity and learning, growth and leadership, and strengthening community connections. We work to improve access to local resources for parents and families, and to help strengthen local services to better meet the needs of our community. We run a variety of parent/family programming, a teen center, and creative programming for youth and adults. We also serve as a community resource center for local groups to host programming in the arts, recreation, wellness and social justice.
Position Objectives:
- Improve the accessibility and effectiveness of local resources for parents and families, including connecting people with needed resources
- Support participants by encouraging parent leadership, family involvement, peer support, healthy communication, and community building
- Work collaboratively with other staff to advance and support Brick House programming. Support and develop relationships with other relevant organizations and partners
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with parents, families, and service providers to connect people to existing resources
- Coordinate, facilitate and support community events such as workshops, parent cafes, parent council, performance events, peer support meetings, etc.
- Identify/share information about resources, services, events to families and providers
- Identify family/parent, community needs, and gaps in resources
- Work collaboratively with Brick House staff to develop and manage programming, solve problems and support other programs
- Conduct outreach for Brick House and partner programs
- Participate in staff meetings, strategic planning and development activities that support and sustain the operation of the Brick House
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Spanish/English Bilingual
- Respectful, compassionate, interpersonal communication skills
- Familiarity with basic needs programming and local resources
- Computer literacy and written communications skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Reliable transportation, willingness and capacity to transport teens and adults to programs and services, if needed
- Commitment to working individually and with our organization to achieve social and racial justice, conversant with issues of social and systemic oppression
Desired qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals and other agencies to address challenges, including with schools, health centers, social services and basic needs programs
- Facilitation, mediation and/or conflict resolution experience or training
Schedule and Compensation:
Monday-Friday: 20 hours, some hours flexible. Occasional evening or weekend hours for special events. Anticipated start date: October 1, 2023.
Starts at $21.50 to 23/hr
