The Brick House Community Resource Center is hiring a new Parent and Family Services Coordinator.
Schedule
18 to 25 hours/week, negotiable. Mondays through Fridays with some scheduling flexibility. Occasional evening or weekend hours for special events. Anticipated start date in December.
Compensation
Starts at $18 to $19.50/hour for English-speaking candidates, or $20 to $21.50/hour for candidates also fluent in Spanish. Annual benefits: Healthcare reimbursement valued at $2,160 to $3,000; two weeks’ paid vacation; 18 paid holidays; sick time.
Agency / Program Mission
The Brick House Community Resource Center supports youth and family well-being by providing a place in Turners Falls for creativity and learning, growth and leadership, and strengthening community connection. To foster positive community participation, we look to youth and parents for input and leadership. We work to improve access to local resources for parents and families and to meet the changing needs of our community. We also offer an after-school teen center for youth ages 11 to 19 and serve as a space for local groups to host programming in the arts, recreation, wellness, and social justice.
Position Objective
- To support participants by encouraging parent leadership, family involvement, peer support, healthy communication, and community building.
- To ensure that participants have access to the resources they need.
- Along with other staff, to create and sustain strong partnerships with local stakeholders, including parents, service providers, coalition members, and Brick House supporters.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Connect parents, families, and other local service providers with existing resources.
- Compile and disseminate information about local resources, services, and events.
- Attend networking, training, and collaborative events.
- Attend the Community Connections Coalition’s steering committee meetings once a month.
- Support the Executive Director and Parent & Family Program Director in developing the CCC grant Action Plan each year, and work together to meet its goals.
- Provide appropriate participant data to the Parent & Family Program Director for grant reporting.
- Work with the P&F Director to develop Brick House programs that foster opportunities for parents to develop leadership skills, support one another, and make positive change in their communities.
- Facilitate programs, with support from the Director.
- Coordinate events such as community meals, workshops, parent cafés, parent council meetings, performances, and peer support groups.
- Conduct outreach.
- Participate in strategic planning and development activities, including fundraiser events, that sustain the overall operation of the Brick House.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Fluency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Experience working with parents and resource providers.
- Experience collaborating and/or working within schools, health centers, social services, or basic needs programs.
- Demonstrated ability to cooperate with and interact respectfully with community members and coworkers.
- Commitment to working to achieve social and racial justice, conversant with issues of social and systemic oppression.
- Knowledge of non-violent communication, conflict resolution, mediation, restorative practices preferred.
- Comfort with email and other computer technology.
- Reliable transportation. Capacity and willingness to occasionally transport participants to programs and services a plus.
