Making Radical Futures Lab

October 18 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The Making Radical Futures Lab at Smith College is facilitating the co-creation of an illustrated map of the Connecticut River Valley 100 years beyond the collapse of capitalism, where there is a proliferation of communities who organize economies in diverse ways. The map will show visions added by folks working on a range of projects in the valley that prefigure alternative economic modes, such as worker cooperatives, mutual aid networks, community land trusts, etc.

We hope that participating in this map can serve as a moment of reflection among members within each project group, and between groups in the valley, around the diverse visions we hold about the systems we’re working towards.

This gathering will guide participants through a process of extrapolating from the work you do today to imagine future economic systems that prioritize your values. Participants will end up making sketchy drawings and stories (no prior skill required) to add to the map. This workshop will last around 2 hours, and include snacks.  After the workshop, we will build on your drawings and stories (alongside those of other groups) to create an illustrated map that will be made available to all who participated in creating it.

Contact kjackson@brickhousecommunity.org if you are interested in participating or with accessibility questions.
