As a part of Sound Scholars, learn the basics of digital music production through fun activities: head out into the world with field recorders to collect “found sounds” and then take the recordings back to the Brick House studio to edit them into beats, soundscapes or just funky weird compositions. Practice cutting, splicing, and adding effects to audio and then try your hand at mixing an actual multitrack recording of a band. Experiment with microphone placement and gain staging while mastering the different cables and setups required for recording. The new Brick House music studio is loaded with instruments, microphones, speakers and all the gear needed to get you started on the fun and fulfilling hobby of making digital music and sonic artwork; experienced youth musicians and producers can take advantage of facilitator Joel Eisenkramer’s 15 years of expertise as a recording engineer, producer and musician while further honing their skills.
The Brick House offers space for any community organization, individual, or group wishing to host programs that are in alignment with our mission to support individual, family and community well-being. For more information see our space rental page.
