There are many ways you can be involved!
Join one of our committees:
- Fun: Help to organize events and activities that bring people into the Brick House and contribute to making it a fun and welcoming space.
- Space: This group is responsible for managing community use of the Brick House, our Movement Studio and Front Room are available for classes, meetings and events.
- Basic Needs: This is a newly formed committee to support our expanding basic needs program. It includes organizing to help identify and connect people with basic needs through things like our food pantry and winter coat drive.
- Building: The Brick House is located in a historic firehouse and we’re responsible for its renovations and maintenance. This committee isn’t currently active and we’re looking for people with building experience to help our Director and Board identify priorities for renovations and maintenance, and make plans for improvements on the building to better suit the needs of our community.
- Fundraising: We’ve been growing a lot in the last year and Tom, our Executive Director, has been doing an incredible job bringing in more funds for our programing. The fundraising committee works to supplement these funds through raising unrestricted donations that can go towards improvements on the building, giving us a more flexible pool of funding to support our staff, and securing a solid foundation for our future. Our big fundraising event of the year is the Brick House 5K and we need more volunteers to help with planning it. We also want to get more creative in our fundraising efforts and would love your help to brainstorm and implement new campaigns!
Work with youth:
Teen center: Do you care about youth in your neighborhood? Do you have the capacity to respect and support youth ages 11 to 19? The Teen Center is often looking for positive, safe, and fun adults to volunteer during our drop-in hours.
Arts facilitation: Teach a specific arts activity or creative skill during our Momentum Arts Group.
Social justice: Facilitate a workshop for youth around issues of oppression, social justice, or anti-bullying.
Media creation: Provide training for youth in filmmaking, video editing, meme and gif generation, social media ethics, etc.
Music education: Teach basic guitar, keyboard, or drum lessons.
